Dear Patients,
Like all of you, Allergy Associates of the Palm Beaches has had to face a new reality due to the COVID-19 virus. We have re-evaluated our strategy to deliver safe and effective care in order to protect our patients and our staff. In order to continue to deliver the care that you expect and deserve, we have made several changes that will remain in place for the foreseeable future until the COVID-19 pandemic allows us to resume our normal business practices.
In order to minimize potential exposures to patients and staff, we have shifted to seeing new and follow up patients via Telehealth exclusively. Telehealth is a face-to-face video conference with your doctor through a secure connection. Once you schedule your appointment with the office, the staff will call you prior to your appointment to verify your information and the nursing staff will start your appointment. Once the doctor is ready, a text or email from doxy.me will be sent to you containing a link. Click on the link and you will be redirected to a virtual waiting room where the doctor will join you for your visit. This can be done via computer desktop, tablet, or smartphone, please refer to https://doxy.me and https://aapb.doxy.me ahead of time for further user instructions or contact our front desk and we will be glad to assist. (Tips for a great video call: Be sure to have a strong wifi or ethernet connection, close unused programs, and use Google or Firefox for best results).
We will continue to provide IVIG infusions, allergy shots, and biologic injections. However, we have made several changes as to how these visits will occur. In order to minimize the exposure between patients, we are no longer allowing walk-ins for allergy shots. Please call the office to schedule your allergy shots for both our West Palm Beach (561-659-5916) and North Palm Beach (561-626-2006) locations. Please note that effective immediately, our West Palm Beach location will only be open on Tuesdays by appointment only for allergy/biologic shots. Please note that we are changing shot hours for both locations to 8am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-3pm.
On the day of your allergy/biologic shot appointment, patients are to call once they are on the property. This will allow time to prepare your injection before you get to the office. Once you arrive at the office, you will be asked a series of questions and have your temperature taken. Once cleared, you will be asked to put on a mask and escorted to an isolated area in our office where only one staff member (who has also been screened, masked, and gloved), will bring your injections to administer to you. Shots are being given one patient at a time to prevent unnecessary exposures to others.
Infusion patients will go through the screening protocol as well. Once cleared, the patient will be masked and escorted into the infusion suite where an infusion staff member will guide patients from there.
As you have undoubtedly heard in the news, the amount of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is extremely limited. The bulk of the inventory is going to those on the front lines in fighting this pandemic as it should. If you have your own mask, please bring it with you so we will have inventory for our staff as we continue to provide you medical services.
If you are feeling ill or feel that you have been exposed to the Coronavirus, please do not come into your appointment. Please call the office for further guidance.
This is our new normal for now. Patience, due diligence, personal responsibility and common-sense changes will help protect all of us during this unprecedented time. We understand that this may be an inconvenience, however these are the necessary steps that we need to take to prevent the spread of this virus and to help protect our patients and our staff. It is our sincerest hope that you and your family stay safe.
Thank you,
All of us at Allergy Associates
